Q: “How do you do it all?!”

A: My days are a blur.

It starts at 6-7:30AM.

Wake up, get ready for work, make breakfast, wake Leo up if he hasn’t woken up already, get him ready for the day, pack his backpack for daycare, grab his favorite snacks to give to him when I pick him up after work, fill up our water bottles, grab his favorite cars, head out the door, buckle him in his car seat, get in the car, drive to daycare.

When we arrive at his daycare I grab his backpack, unbuckle him, & we head inside with him on my hip. He holds on to me with his head resting on my chest; he knows what’s about to come & he doesn’t like it. We walk inside the daycare, I try to act as excited as possible that his friends are there so he feels more comfortable with me leaving. I hand him to the teachers, he begrudgingly says bye without crying, I head off to work with my heart aching but knowing it’s for the best.

I get to work, work 8 hours making tons of calls while trying to set meetings that will bring more income, & leave around 5.

BEST PART OF MY DAY THEN COMES: I pick Leo up from daycare. He’ll run into my arms & we’ll have the happiest hug. He’ll then ask to hug his teachers goodbye, & then we head home while he gets to eat a snack.

We get home, unload, hang out for 20 minutes, then I’ll start dinner. In between dinner & bedtime, I’ll *try* finish whatever chores need to be done like laundry, dishes, organizing, etc. while simultaneously giving my attention to Leo & playing with him when I can.

By the time this is all done, it’s usually 8.

Crap.

Okay, now it’s Leo’s bedtime. How’d that sneak up so fast?!

We cleanup his toys, get him in his jammies, read a few books, say a prayer, sing some hymns, then put him down to bed with his blankey & favorite stuffed lions.

I *should* do some school, read some books, work out, etc. but by this time, I’m literally exhausted. Sometimes I end my day crying in exhaustion, sometimes I’ll end it feeling victorious.

I’m still trying to find our new normal & routine. We’ll get there. For now, I’m embracing our imperfect, messy life that I’m so fortunate to get to experience with Leo. Thanks for loving me despite my imperfections, sweet boy. 💛
